YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com)—Eastern Michigan University's women's track and field team is coming off a win against Mid-American Conference opponents Central Michigan and Western Michigan, and looks to use its momentum to fuel its performances when the team will split up this weekend, Friday and Saturday, Feb. 6-7. The majority of the track athletes will head to South Bend, Ind. for the Meyo Invitational, while the field competitors will make the trip to Akron, Ohio for the Akron Invitational.
The Eagles have already had experience this season running on the track at Notre Dame, having competed against some strong teams at the Notre Dame Invitational, Jan. 24. MSU will return to South Bend, as well as two more nationally-ranked programs in No. 7 Texas and No. 21 Michigan. The meet will start at 4 p.m. on Friday, starting with the field events while track events will start at 5 p.m. On Saturday, the meet is slated for a 10 a.m. start time on the track followed by a 10:30 a.m. start on the field.
The Akron Invitational will be hosted by No. 18 Akron, and will feature competitions split between elite (gold) and blue divisions. Friday will kick off with the field events at 3 p.m. On Saturday, action will start on the field at 11:00 a.m. with an afternoon session beginning at 3 p.m.
