Senior Kimberly Ebeyer discusses fall training and community service
YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) — Throughout the year, one member of the Eastern Michigan University gymnastics team will post a journal entry about what has been going on recently with the team, both inside and outside the gym. This week, we begin with the lone senior on the squad.
Hello Eagle Fans,
Your EMU gymnastics team is back in action preparing for our upcoming 2015-16 season. With midterms right around the corner and high-intensity training, October requires the toughest athletes to strive through it all.
Outside the gym, our Eagle gymnasts are always aiming to help better the community in which we call home. The team recently participated in an event known as "Build On." Children attending Detroit schools joined several Eagle student-athletes in participating in recreational activities followed by cheering on our EMU football team at the game. In addition, the team was given an amazing opportunity to help raise awareness in a walk to help end Alzheimer's. The team walked two miles to help raise over $1,000 dedicated to the research and care for Alzheimer's patients.
In the gym, your Eagle gymnasts are striving for greatness. Each day the team is preparing to tackle this upcoming season with determination and ambition. We are excited to welcome a promising group of freshmen who are already showing a great work ethic and we are so happy to have them as teammates! The gymnastics team is always looking to push past our limits and improve on the accomplishments that we attained last year. The team is getting stronger each day as conditioning becomes harder. Along with cycling, we welcomed a new challenge of rowing to our conditioning list this year. The team had a ton of fun working with the rowing coach and we're excited to see the positive results it will bring.
Get ready Eagle fans, as your gymnastics team is gearing up for a promising season! Take a look at our meet schedule that was recently posted on the website and come out to show some EMU spirit! We can't wait to see you there!
