YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) -- The Eastern Michigan University men's golf team concluded the sixth annual Golfweek Conference Challenge with an eighth-place finish at the par 72, 7,229-yard Spirit Hollow Golf Club.
The Eagles carded a three-round total of 896 (293-300-303) to place eighth overall at the tournament, while LSU claimed the first-place finish with a team total of 849 (278-281-290), and SMU grabbed the runner-up by shooting a 860 (287-289-284).
Junior Brett White (Caledonia, Mich.-East Kentwood) paced the Green and White, tying for 11th overall and shooting a three-round total of 220 (71-75-74) while sophomore Kyle Rodes (Plymouth, Mich.-Plymouth) tied for 29th overall carding a 225 (71-76-78). The top-20 finish marks the third of White's career donning the Green and White.
Senior Michael Blair (Ancaster, Ontario, Canada-Nelson) and junior Jared Multer (Battle Creek, Mich.-Lakeview-Grand Rapids C.C.) finished just two strokes apart from one another as Blair recorded a 226 (74-74-78), tying for 34th, and Multer carded a 228 (77-75-76) to tie for 40th overall. Freshman Nicholas Ross (Dundas, Ontario, Canada-Highland Secondary) rounded out the EMU scoring with a three-round score of 230 (79-76-75) to tie for 46th.
LSU took the top-two individual spots of the tournament as Stewart Jolly claimed the crown with a 207 (67-66-74) and Eric Ricard finished four shots behind with a 211 (69-71-71).
The Eagles will be back in action Saturday, Sept. 20, when they head to the Wolf Run Intercollegiate in Zionsville, Ind.
