Men's Basketball Releases 2014-15 Non-Conference Schedule

Eastern will play nine home games prior to Mid-American Conference play
YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) — Eastern Michigan University Head Men's Basketball Coach Rob Murphy released the squad's 2014-15 non-conference schedule today, Aug. 19. The Eagles will host nine games inside the Convocation Center which will include the EMU Showcase, a multi-team event.
The Green and White will open the season with a contest versus Saint Francis University (Ill.) Friday, Nov. 14. The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) affiliated team will travel to Ypsilanti, Mich. and will serve as EMU's non-NCAA Division I opponent in the 2014-15 Eastern Michigan-hosted tournament. The Saints will come into town for a rare weekday afternoon game when the Eagles will welcome local area elementary schools into the Convocation Center for its annual Education Day.
Following its opener, the Green and White will face off with its first NCAA Division I opponent when Oakland travels 53 miles from Rochester, Mich. for a 7 p.m. contest at the Convocation Center Monday, Nov. 17. This will be the third season in a row that the Golden Grizzlies and Eagles will hit the hardwood, splitting the previous two meetings.
The ensuing weekend will provide a lot of action for Eagles and college basketball fans tipping off the EMU Showcase, Nov. 21-23. Eastern will host Longwood, UNC-Greensboro and Youngstown State for the multi-team event. The round robin tournament will pit all four schools against each other in a three-day span. The Eagles will open the weekend with Youngstown State, Nov. 21, while UNCG and Longwood will square off on the same date. On the next day, EMU will play Greensboro, while Longwood and YSU will take each other on. Sunday, Nov. 23, will serve as the final day of the tournament with Eastern playing Longwood, while the Penguins and Spartans battle. All times for the multi-team event are yet to be determined.
EMU will take just three days off before going back to work, Nov. 26. The Green and White will take on Rochester College (Mich.) the day before Thanksgiving Day for a noon contest before hosting another local opponent, Marygrove, Dec. 1, at 7 p.m.

EMU will play four-straight away from home, beginning with a Saturday, Dec. 6, matchup with Dayton. EMU will return to its home state for its next two games against a pair of Big Ten Conference opponents. First, the Eagles will head to Michigan, Dec. 9, before taking eight days off. East Lansing, Mich. will be the next stop for a contest with the Spartans of Michigan State, Dec. 17. The Eagles will close out the road trip Saturday, Dec. 20, when they complete a home-and-home from the 2012-13 season, heading to Springfield, Mo. to take on Missouri State.
The Green and White will return home to the friendly confines of the Convocation Center, Dec. 23, for a Tuesday night game with Coppin State before closing out the non-conference slate with Concordia (Mich.) Sunday, Dec. 28.
