Two Former EMU Golfers Compete in Weekend Tournaments

Cam Burke completed his first tournament as a member of the 2014 Web.com Tour, while Chris Ross golfed at the Bayview Place Island Savings Open presented by Times Colonist

YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – Two former Eastern Michigan University men's golfers competed on the professional circuit over the weekend. Chris Ross competed in the Bayview Place Island Savings Open presented by Times Colonist in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada as a part of the PGA Canada Tour, while Cam Burke took part in the Cleveland Open at the Lakewood Country Club in Westlake, Ohio as a part of the Web.com Tour, June 5-8.

In just his second event of the 2014 season, Ross picked up a top-25 finish, tying for eighth and shooting seven under par with a 273 (66-70-69-68) in four rounds. Ross' seven-under total on the par-70 layout in four rounds was highlighted by three rounds under par, including a 66 in round one. The Dundas, Ontario native used six birdies in the first round to secure a 66 before adding nine more birdies in the final three rounds.

After receiving his 2014 Web.com Tour membership card in December, Burke has competed in nine tournaments, making the cut in three. Burke tied for 64th this past weekend at the Cleveland Open, shooting a 286 (71-7072-73) in four rounds of golf. The Badin, Ontario native shot two over par to move up six spots in the tournament and place just above the cut line. Burke's first tournament appearance was highlighted by 14 birdies, including five in the second round.

Burke will travel to Nova Scotia, Canada for the Nova Scotia Open at Ashburn Golf Club's new course in Halifax, July 3-6, while Ross wil travel to The Syncrude Boreal Open Presented by AECON in Alberta, Canada, July 19-22.
