Heavy Rain Washes Away Final Round of Sagamore Fall Preview

NOBLESVILLE, Ind. (EMUEagles.com) – The third and final round of the Sagamore Fall Preview was canceled Tuesday morning, Oct. 14, after heavy rains fell at the Sagamore Golf Club making conditions unplayable. The scores revert back to round two tallies, as the Eagles finish ninth in the 14-team event on the par 72, 7,173-yard Sagamore Golf Club course.
Eight teams were able to get on the course this morning, but heavy rain started falling just about 30 minutes after play began. With the forecast for more rain to fall throughout the course of the day, tournament officials decided to cancel the final round and complete the tournament with the 36-hole scores.
Playing on the site of 2015 NCAA Noblesville Regional, sophomore Kyle Rodes (Plymouth, Mich.-Plymouth) paced the Eagles with a career-low 69 in the second round for an eighth-place tie at 144 (75-69). The finish marked Rodes' first career top-10 showing in 16 events and his total was the second-best among Mid-American Conference players.
Senior Michael Blair (Ancaster, Ontario, Canada-Nelson-Pfeiffer) posted consecutive rounds of 76 for a 152 in 38th-place while junior Brett White (Caledonia, Mich.-East Kentwood) and freshman Nicholas Ross (Dundas, Ontario, Canada-Highland Secondary) tied for 49th with a 154. Junior Jared Multer (Battle Creek, Mich.-Lakeview-Grand Rapids C.C.) rounded out the EMU lineup with rounds of 77 and 81 for 61st-place with a 158.
The tournament marked the last one of the fall for the Eagles. The spring campaign gets under way in February when the squad travels to Dade City, Fla., to compete in the Mid-American Conference Match Play Tournament, Feb. 9-10. Stay tuned to EMUEagles.com for more information.
