Rowing Comes Up Short in Battle for the Harvey Cup

Buffalo retains the Harvey Cup for the eighth time
BUFFALO, N.Y. (EMUEagles.com) – On a clear, crisp morning on the Tonawanda Creek the Eastern Michigan University rowing team turned in a strong performance against Colonial Athletic Association foes Buffalo and Boston University. The Harvey Cup is named in recognition and memory of former UB Associate Athletic Director and Senior Woman Administrator Nan Harvey, who passed away in September of 2003 after battling cancer for over three years.
In the annual varsity 8 race between EMU and UB for the Harvey Cup, the Bulls retained the cup for the eighth straight year. The UB Varsity 8 boat (6:49.4) defeated Eastern Michigan (7:00.9), however, the Eagles dramatically improved their time from just a season ago.
The Green and White will next race at the Lubbers Cup in Spring Lake, Mich., April 13.
