– Members of the Eastern Michigan University men's track and field team competed in vastly different weather conditions. While four Eagles enjoyed running in warm and sunny Walnut, California at the Mt. SAC Relays, April 18-19, the rest of the team braved the cold and wind as hosts of the EMU Twilight, April 19.

Last night, April 18, Grzegorz Kalinowski placed fourth in the 1,500-meter run at the Mt. SAC Relays. The Mid-American Conference Most Outstanding Performer turned in a time of 3:46.10, a time that currently stands as the best in the MAC. The junior from Poland also ran ther 800-meter run in 1:51.51.

Also competing out at Mt. SAC was Cameron Bolton, Terefe Ejigu and Matthew Williams. The three Eagles raced on day two of the meet, April 19. Bolton took 14th in the 400-meter dash with a time of 48.02 while Williams crossed the finish line in 48.46. The duo also ran in the 200-meter dash as Bolton's career-best 21.26 was good enough from ninth place, and Williams ran in 22.06. Ejigu ran the Olympic Development Elite 5,000-meter run against some of the nation's top runners, finishing in a time of 14:23.31

Meanwhile, back in Ypsilanti, freshman Jeff Elam finished runner-up in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 53.62. Teammate Darrell Butler followed closely behind in third at 53.76, and Fontaine Holland's 55.42 was enough for sixth place.

In the two distance races, Cameron Trinh tallied a 4:08.07 eighth-place finish whlie Clayton Strycker paced the Eagles in the 5,000-meter run with a personal-best 15:51.92, nearly 28 seconds better than his previous top time.

The Eagles swept the top three spots in the pole vault as Dylan Stites jumped 4.75 meters to claim the victory. Teammates Joe Tesner and Colton Arnett followed with leaps of 4.60 and 4.45 meters, respectively.
