Hanson and Craig win individual events for EMU

Day One Final Results

CARBONDALE, Ill. (EMUEagles.com) –
The Eastern Michigan University men's swimming and diving team currently leads the 2013 Mid-American Conference Swimming and Diving Championships with 242 points after the first day of action.

The Eagles are in first with 242, Missouri State is second with 226, Buffalo sits third with 215.5, Miami is fourth with 130.5, Southern Illinois sits in fifth with 122, Ball State has 58 for sixth and Evansville is in seventh with 54 points.

Jacob Hanson was the top performer for EMU in day one. The senior took first place by setting a new pool and championship record in the 200-individual medley. Hanson completed the distance in 1:45.21, while Andrew Henry and Mike Swain finished the race in 1:48.04 and 1:48.77, good for fourth and fifth.

Hanson also was the lead man in the third place finishing 400-medley relay team that completed the race in 3:14.14. The Eagles also excelled on the diving boards as Jeffrey Craig and Andrew Saunders finished first and second. Craig set a new pool and championship record as well scoring a 389.90 in the one-meter dive, while Saunders scored a 345.95.

Brian Moore earned a third place finish in the 500-freestyle, with a 4:24.99, while Dexter Foos took second in the 50-freestyle with a 20.58 finish.

Eastern continues action at the 2013 MAC Championships Friday. The preliminary sessions start at 11 a.m. with the finals session at 7 p.m. from Carbondale, Ill.
