PALO ALTO, Calif. (EMUEagles.com) – Several Eastern Michigan University women's track and field athletes wrapped up day two of competition at the Stanford Invitational Saturday, March 30, on Cobb Track at Angell Field on the campus of Stanford University.

Eagles were found participating in four events, including freshman Vanessa Clerveaux racing in the finals of the 100-meter hurdles. After qualifying with a 14.13 on day one, the Brockton, Mass. native took seventh in the finals, crossing the line in 14.44.

A pair of freshmen and a pair of seniors teamed up to represent EMU in the 4x400-meter relay. The team of Latipha Cross, Aaliyah McKinney, Morgan Churchwell and Asia Rawls placed 11th with a time of 3:49.57. Aside from Rawls, the other relay team members competed in other races Saturday afternoon. McKinney and Cross ran the 200-meter dash in 24.82 and 25.33, respectively, while Churchwell finished the 800-meter run in 2:16.44.

TOLEDO, Ohio – The rest of the EMU women's track team competed at the Toledo Collegiate Challenge to begin the outdoor season. The Green and White registered impressive performances all day long, posting 15 top-10 finishes.

EMU's record holder in the hammer, Lydia Gomez-Diaz, placed fourth in the event with a toss of 177-feet 2-inches (54.00 meters). Teammate Adrienne Waisner threw a personal-best 139-feet 6-inches (42.53 meters) for the seventh-best mark in school history.

The top finish of the day came from junior Kayla Pfund who took runner-up in the 2,000-meter steeplechase with a 7:17.41.

Regardless of class, many Eagles finished towards the top in their respective events. Senior Rachel Quaintance and freshman Ellie Braidic placed third in their events, as Quaintance ran 10:05.03 in the 3,000-meter run while Braidic leaped 11-feet 5.75-inches (3.50 meters) in the pole vault, good for tenth in EMU laurels.

The Eagles return to the track April 5-6, for the Spartan Invitational in East Lansing, Mich.
