COMPLETE RESULTS
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University gymnastics team finished runner-up in the Bowling Green Invitational, Feb. 23, a meet between three Mid-American conference schools that did not count against conference records.
The Eagles recorded a 193.350 to take second in the battle of the birds. The host Falcons won the meet with a score of 194.525 while the Cardinals of Ball State tallied 192.775. EMU continued the trend of catching teams on its best meets of the season as BGSU's score was its highest since 2005.
Freshman Khadijah Hudson tied for second in the all around in just her second time competing in each event during a meet through her EMU career. Hudson's score of 38.800, a personal best, was just 0.100 behind BGSU's Megan Harrington who took the victory with a 38.900. Hudson also paced the Eagles on the balance beam and floor exercise, tallying a career-high 9.775 on the beam for third place while recording a 9.825 on the floor to finish fifth. Also on the floor, Chantelle Loehner turned in a personal-best with a 9.725.
Anna Willette led the Green and White on the vault with a third-place score of 9.825. Carrina Lo Bello soared through the air as the best EMU gymnast on the bars with a runner-up finish of 9.675.
For the first time this season, the EMU gymnasts will hit the road for a pair of dual meets next weekend. First on the schedule, the Green and White will tangle with Northern Illinois University in Dekalb, Ill., March 2, in search of its first conference victory of the season. The Eagles will then travel south for a Sunday afternoon tilt against Southeast Missouri State University, March 3, in Cape Girardeau, Mo.
