Mycal Swaim to Play in the Medal of Honor Bowl

EMU senior safety to take part in the Jan. 11 contest in Charleston S.C.

YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) — Eastern Michigan University senior safety Mycal Swaim (Chico, Calif.-Pleasant Valley-Butte C.C.) will play in the inaugural Medal of Honor Bowl on Jan. 11 in Charleston, S.C. The game will take place at Johnson Hagood Stadium on the campus of The Citadel. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m.

Swaim appeared in 20 games throughout his two-year career at EMU. After transferring from Butte College in Oroville, Calif., Swaim has recorded 101 tackles in two seasons as an Eagle, including 81 this year. Against Penn State (Sept. 7), the Chico, Calif. native hauled in his first career interception. In EMU's latest victory over Western Michigan, Swaim did his part in the thrilling overtime contest, tying his career-high with nine tackles.

Former Maryland Head Coach Ralph Friedgen and ex-Dallas Cowboys Coach Chan Gailey will coach the two teams in the Medal of Honor Bowl.

A total of 92 players, 46 per team, will make up the final roster.
