Junior runner to race against the nation's best
YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) — Eastern Michigan University will boast one member of its women's cross country team in the 2013 NCAA Championship race, Saturday, Nov. 23 in Terre Haute, Ind, as junior Victoria Voronko (Stavropol, Russia-School #42) will be one-of-two runners representing the Mid-American Conference. Ohio's three-time MAC Champion Juli Accurso will also compete in the race.
Voronko has led the Eagles in every meet that she has run in this season, claiming first-place finishes in the EMU Triangular and the George Dales Invitational and runner-up finishes at the Mel Brodt Collegiate Opener, Notre Dame Invitational, NCAA Pre-Invitational, and MAC Championship. The junior was named MAC Runner of the Week for the periods ending Sept. 4, Sept, 18, and Oct. 19. She also placed 14th in the Great Lakes Regional meet.
The meet, hosted by Indiana State University, will begin at 1:15 p.m. at the Wabash Valley Family Sports Center in Terre Haute, Ind. Live results and webcasts will be available through Branch Sports Tech and the NCAA.
