EMU Gymnastics Assists in Local Community Project

The team participated in 'Get Off Your Glass' day at Adams Elementary School
YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) -- The Eastern Michigan University gymnastics team showed its dedication to helping out in the community by cleaning Adams Elementary School, Oct. 5, as part of the local Get Off Your Glass campaign. EMU Head Gymnastics Coach Steve Wilce and EMU gymnasts spent three hours cleaning up the school Saturday morning.
"The EMU gymnastics team is reaching out to the local Ypsilanti community helping with the local schools," commented EMU Associate Head Gymnastics Coach Andrea Price. "We are excited to be able to give back to the community and help the local schools."
Get Off Your Glass is a new community outreach program dedicated to cleaning up school playgrounds, neighboring parks, and school parking lots in and around the Ypsilanti Community Schools area. The program is focused on making green spaces usable for everyone while also cleaning up nine area schools.
The team is also signed up through the EMU Volunteers Incorporating Service Into Our Neighborhoods (VISION) Volunteer Center to work on campus next weekend. VISION is a resource that helps students and staff become actively engaged in service around the community.
