GREENWOOD, Ind. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University women's golf team wrapped up competition at the Hoosier Fall Invitational Sunday, Oct. 20, here at the par-71 Hickory Stick Golf Club in Greenwood, Ind. For the 54-hole event, the Eagles shot a cumulative total of 940 (318-315-307) for 15th place.
No. 41 ranked UC Davis cruised to the team title with a 16-stoke victory over No. 22 Illinois. The Aggies fired an 868 (296-288-284) while the Fighting Illini carded an 884 (298-286-300). Betty Chen made it a clean sweep for UC Davis by claiming medalist honors with a three-under 210 (72-69-69) on the par 71, 6,062-yard course.
Sylvie Williams (Christchurch, New Zealand-Christchurch Girls School) and Karyn Lee Ping (Brampton, Ontario, Canada-St. Augustine Secondary School) paced the Green and White in a tie for 42nd place with a 230. Kelsey Murphy (Plymouth, Mich.-Plymouth) finished four strokes back with a 234 (77-81-76).
Usanee Laopattananont (Bangplee, Thailand-Thai Christian School) and Rushda Mallick (Cape Town, South Africa-Glenwood House) rounded out the lineup with a 246 (85-77-84) and a 254 (86-84-84), respectively. Competing as an individual, Lois Schoof (Amsterdam, Netherlands-Univ. of Amsterdam) finished in a tie for 55th place with a 233 (78-76-79).
Eastern Michigan's next and final tournament this fall will be the Edwin Watts Palmetto Intercollegiate Tournament, Oct. 27-28, in Kiawah Island, S.C.
