Rowing Travels to Lansing to Compete in the Head of the Grand

Eagles look to capitalize on past success at Grand River Park
YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University rowing team will stay in-state this weekend as it travels to Lansing, Mich. to compete in the Head of the Grand hosted by the Michigan State Crew Club, Sunday, Oct. 20.
This will be the second time in program history that the Eagles compete in the Head of the Grand. The Green and White last competed in the race in 2007 when they took home two first-place finishes in the 4+ event. The Eagles came in just behind two Michigan State boats in the varsity 8+, picking up a third-place finish.
EMU will look to capitalize on the success they have had in the past at Grand River Park this weekend as they bring five different boats to compete.
Eastern will race three 8+ boats and two 4+ boats at the Head of the Grand with its first race kicking off at 9:20 a.m. The novice four boat will be led by coxswain Tauan Jeffrey (Grove City, Ohio-Fort Hayes) while Krista Burdick (Ypsilanti, Mich.-Ypsilanti), Sidney Doss (Grass Lake, Mich.-Grass Lake), Meghan Knox (Ann Arbor, Mich.-Skyline) and Samantha Mier (Lincoln, Mich.-Alcona Community) will make up the rest of the boat.
The Eagles will race two boats in the varsity eights, starting at 10:40 a.m. The A boat will hold coxswain Sarah Hillegonds (Ann Arbor, Mich.-Ann arbor Huron) as well as Emily Kent (Ypsilanti, Mich.-Ann Arbor Huron), Ashley Gilmore (Arlington, Wash.-Lakewood), KC Anderson (Garden City, Mich.-Garden City), Stacy Cloutier (Taylor, Mich.-Truman), Lyndsey Tollas (Hicksville, Ohio-Hicksville), Burdick, Knox, and Doss.
The B boat will consist of Tijana Milovanovic (Novi Sad, Serbia-Gimnazija Jovanovic Zmaj), LeAnn Dimitroff (Northville, Mich.-Northville), Elizabeth Caudill (Ypsilanti, Mich.-Calvary Christian Academy), Tara Sholtz (Ypsilanti, Mich.-St. Clair), Kaitie Keys (Canton, Mich.-Plymouth), Danielle Keen (Onsted, Mich.-Onsted), Caitlyn Mcguire (Dayton, Ohio-Vandalia Butler), Allison Pecault (Riverview, Fla.-Riverview) and coxswain Jeffrey.
EMU will race against Michigan Tech, Northern Michigan and the University of Toledo in the nice four event and will take on three Michigan State boats, Michigan Tech and Northern Michigan in the varsity eight event.

Jeffrey will close out her three-event day after leading the novice eight boat as the coxswain.
