YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) --
The Eastern Michigan University women's rowing team travels to Cherry Hill, N.J., for the Knecht Cup, April 11-12, on the Cooper River. One of the nation's largest collegiate regattas, the two-day event will provide a significant mid-season test against a deep national field.

THE SETTING:

The Knecht Cup will be contested on the renowned Cooper River course in Cherry Hill, N.J., Saturday-Sunday, April 11-12. The regatta annually draws more than 70 programs from across the country for a two-day schedule of racing.

  • Event: Knecht Cup Regatta

  • Dates: April 11-12, 2015

  • Location: Cooper River, Cherry Hill, N.J.

  • Note: One of the largest collegiate rowing competitions in the United States

MICHIGAN STATE RECAP, APRIL 4:

EMU made a significant breakthrough on April 4 at Ford Lake, highlighted by the 3V8+ boat's narrow 1.8-second victory over Michigan State—marking EMU's first win against the Spartans in any event since 2018. The Eagles led wire-to-wire in that race, showcasing improved depth and internal competition within the program. Although Michigan State went on to win the remaining three races (1V8+, 2V8+, and 1V4+), EMU's overall performance demonstrated clear progress against a strong opponent.

SEASON SO FAR:

EMU opened its spring slate at home against Michigan State April 4. The fall campaign included a strong showing at the Head of the Charles in Boston, where the Eagles placed 15th in a field of 43 boats. The Knecht Cup serves as an important tune-up as the team builds toward the Mid-American Conference Championship, which EMU will host May 16 in Ypsilanti.

ON THE HORIZON:

The Eagles return home to host the Mid-American Conference Championship in Ypsilanti, May 16.
