The Eagles marked drains throughout campus to improve storm water management

YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) -- For the second consecutive weekend, the Eastern Michigan University gymnastics team took some time out of the weekend to volunteer throughout the community. The Eagles spent three hours Saturday afternoon, Oct. 12, marking storm drains throughout campus that assist in the management of storm water.

Before heading out to the campus grounds, the team learned how proper storm water management can improve rivers, lakes and streams. The gymnasts then used maps throughout campus to find storm drains and label them to support the environment-friendly activity.

"I enjoyed going about the campus this past Saturday with my team and giving back to EMU.," mentioned EMU Associate Head Gymnastics Coach Andrea Price.  "The EMU gymnasts are not only volunteering but also growing as a team because giving back is about uniting together to support a common cause."

The team signed up through the EMU Volunteers Incorporating Service Into Our Neighborhoods (VISION) Volunteer Center. VISION is a resource that helps students and staff become actively engaged in service around the community.
