OXFORD, Ohio (EMUEagles.com)
- Inclement weather in the Oxford, Ohio area shortened Friday's session of the 2012 Mid-American Conference Men's Swimming and Diving Championships, postponing action until Saturday, March 3.

An outbreak of severe weather including tornadoes has erupted across the Midwest with Oxford in the path of the storms.

A handful of events were able to be completed this afternoon however, and the Eagles did not disappoint as they maintained their position in first place with 383 points. Buffalo is in second with 366 points, while Southern Illinois is in third (365), Missouri State is in fourth (286), Miami is in fifth (252) and Ball State is in sixth (107). Evansville sits in seventh after day two with 40 points.

Troy Esentan was champion in the 400 individual medley this afternoon thanks to a first place, 3:53.14 finish in the event. Michael Swain also landed a spot on the podium after finishing third in 3:56.13. Esentan's efforts represent  his second consecutive 400 IM MAC title, and it also marks the 10th-consecutive season that an EMU swimmer has won the event.

Jacob Hanson took home the title in the 100 backstroke. His time of 47.88 bested all competitors this afternoon as he retains his title after winning it in 2011.

Michael Kinross was the top performer for the Eagles in the 100 butterfly. He raced to a time of 49.49 for an eighth place finish.

A pair of Eagles tallied valuable points after placing in the top-five in the 200 freestyle . Brian Moore took third this afternoon, completing the distance in 1:37.80, while teammate Oded Ivry took fourth in 1:38.19.

In the 100 breaststroke, Mike FIsher placed fourth with a 55.92 performance. Grant Swartz captured seventh in the event in 56.36, while Jake Heyblom took 10th with his time of 56.65.

In the three meter dive preliminaries, EMU's Jeffrey Craig and Andrew Saunders took second and third with scores of 362.80 and 341.80, respectively. Tyler Keelean rounded out the top-10 for EMU with a 324.10, seventh place effort.

Tomorrow's events should commence as scheduled with limited changes.  The 200 yard medley relay and the 800 yard freestyle relay have been pushed to Saturday. The 800 freestyle relay will take place approximately 40 minutes following the 200 butterfly preliminaries. In the time between the events, Friday's award winners will be honored for their championships. The second relay rescheduled will be the 200 medley relay, which will be the first race of the Saturday night session, starting at 7PM.
