EMU to Compete at 2012 Border Olympics

LAREDO, Texas (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University men's golf team will head to Laredo, Texas to compete in the 2012 Border Olympics, March 16-17. The tournament is hosted by the University of Houston and will take place at Laredo Country Club. This trip marks the first time EMU will compete in the Border Olympics.
The two-day event will consist of 54 holes. The first two rounds will be played Friday, March 16, with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. for the first round. The third and final round will be played Saturday, March 17, with an 8 a.m. shotgun start.
The tournament field will consist of 16 teams, including, host Houston, Baylor, Central Arkansas, Eastern Michigan, Iowa State, Kansas, Lamar, Louisiana Tech, Louisiana-Lafayette, Mississippi State, Rice, Southern Miss, Stephen F. Austin, Texas State, Texas-San Antonio and Virginia Commonwealth.
Built on over 160 acres of once very vegetative and ranch land, the Laredo Country Club provides an unexpected level of difficulty combined with strategically designed putting greens. The Laredo Country Club plays to four different tee markers for all levels of players.
