Gymnastics to Take on Ball State

EMU is back on the road for an eight compitition stretch

YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com)-The Eastern Michigan University gymnastics team is back on the road after hosting six of its last seven competitions at Bowen Field House. The Eagles travel to Muncie, Ind. to take on the Cardinals of Ball State University, Feb. 17. Action is slated to begin at 7 p.m. in Irving Gym.
LOOKING FOR A WIN: Last season the Eagles fell to Ball State, 192.625-191.075, at Bowen Field House during the “Beauty and the Beast” compitition. Nikole Viltz set the pace for the Green and White, finishing second on the vault and balance beam with scores of 9.675 and 9.960, respectively. The Eagles had a record-setting afternoon, starting with Kristina Kurkmilis who recorded a career best 9.625 to finish tied for third with BSU's Nicole Allen on the vault. Kurkmilis also tallied a 9.450 on the floor exercise. Tracie Tamashiro and Camille Cicchini each recorded career-best performances, tallying a 9.675 to receive a tie for third place on the parallel bars. Tamashiro also earned a 9.025 on the beam.
LAST TIME OUT: The Green and White captured its first Mid-American Conference win, Feb. 11, defeating the undefeated Western Michigan University Broncos, 193.025-192.225. Jamie Radermacher led the Eagles on the vault, recording a team-best 9.750 for second place, followed by Amanda Fuller and Ashley Quinton who tied for third, posting a 9.725. Radermacher continued her stellar performance on the balance beam as top performer, earning a career high 9.825. The Eagles dominated the Broncos on the beam, posting a 48.375 to a WMU team score of 46.525. Paulina Miller finished right behind Radermacher, earning a 9.750, while Shawna Ciaramella and Anna Willette tied for third, tallying a 9.650.
UP NEXT: The Green and White head to Piscataway, N.J. to compete in the Rutgers Quad, Feb. 25. Eastern will face host Rutgers, Air Force Academy and Bridgeport. Competition begins at 7 p.m.
