BEALLSVILLE, Md. (EMUEagles.com) - Led by junior Brian Churchill-Smith's (Oakville, Ontario, Canada-Oakville Trafalgar) opening day four-under par 138 (69-69) Monday, Oct. 22, the Eastern Michigan University men's golf team sits in fifth place on the 12-team leaderboard at the 28th Annual Georgetown Intercollegiate on The Members Club at Four Streams.
Entering Tuesday's third round, Churchill-Smith sits in first place on the 69-player leaderboard. One stroke back in second place is Toledo's Chris Selfridge (69-70).
The Eagles concluded the tournament's opening round with a team score of 302. The Green and White are two strokes back of leader place Boston College and one shot behind North Texas.
Toledo is in first place out of 12 teams, shooting a 575 (290-285) on the par 71, 6,952 yard course. Notre Dame is second with a 576 followed by Michigan State (580), Penn State (583), Eastern Michigan (584), William & Mary (587), Xavier (588), West Florida (593), Georgetown (594), DePaul (595), Miami (596) and St. Joseph's (615).
The final round will be played on Tuesday, Oct. 23, with an 8:30 a.m. start.
