COLUMBIA, Mo. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University women's golf team wrapped up competition at the Sixth Annual Johnie Imes Invitational Tuesday, Oct. 2, here at The Club at Old Hawthorne. For the 54-hole event, the Eagles shot a cumulative total of 916 (301-309-306) to share 10th place with Illinois State University.
Junior Alyssa Kwon (Richmond Hills, Ontario-Richmond Hills) again led the way for the Green and White, firing rounds of 73, 74 and 77 to finish with an eight-over par 224 and put herself in a tie for 20th place in the individual standings.
Corey Crossan (London, Ontario-Mother Teresa Catholic Secondary School) followed with a 227 (75-78-74) for a 30th place tie while Sarah Johnson (Wixom, Mich.-Walled Lake Central) shot a 230 (74-79-77) for 42nd place. Senior Meredith Fairbairn (Orangeville, Ontario, Canada-Westside Secondary School) managed a 237 (81-78-78) and junior Rushda Mallick (Cape Town, South Africa-Glenwood House-Cape Peninsula University of Technology) completed the Eagles' lineup with a 246 (79-85-2) in 85th.
Winning the tournament was No. 38 SMU, who finished with a score of 876 (297-284-295). Individually, SMU's Melanie White moved up from second place to claim medalist honors with an eight-under 208 (74-65-69).
The Eagles are next in action Oct. 15-16 at Mid-American Conference Fall Preview in Nashport, Ohio.
