Men's Cross Country Selected as MAC Preseason Favorite

The Eagles were selected to repeat as MAC Champions this fall by the conference head coaches

CLEVELAND, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) —The Eastern Michigan University men's cross country team was chosen repeat as the Mid-American Conference Cross Country Champions as voted on by the league's head coaches the conference office announced today, August 31.

At the 2010 Championships, Terefe Ejigu (Mount Cook, Wellington- Wellington College (New Zealand)) paced the Eagles after becoming the 18th EMU runner to win the Individual Championship in program history. Ejigu, along with several other athletes who contributed with solid performances last season, will return to compete under the 2010 MAC Coach of the Year John Goodridge this fall.

Akron was selected to finish second this season, followed by Kent State and Miami. Buffalo and Central Michigan were picked to place fifth and sixth, respectively, while Ohio, Toledo, and Bowling Green round out the poll.

The 2011 Mid-American Conference Cross Country Championships, hosted by Ball State, will be held Saturday, Oct. 29 in Muncie, Ind.
