Carbary Named Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar

Senior golfer receives prestigious honor for second consecutive year

NORMAN, Okla. (EMUEagles.com)- Eastern Michigan University senior golfer Nick Carbary (Kalamazoo, Mich.-Mattawan) was selected for the second consecutive year as a Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar, announced Thursday, July 21, by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA).

In all, a total of 138 Division I student-athletes were honored this season.

Carbary, who has a 3.62 GPA in accounting, in 33 rounds averaged 73.6 strokes per round, good for seventh lowest in the conference. He finished ranked 344th according to the Golfweek/Sagarin system, he had 11 rounds of par-or-better this season and 21 rounds in his career.

Carbary finished in the top 10 in four events this season, including a fourth place finish at the COG Mizzou Intercollegiate with a 223 (74-73-76). At the MAC Championships, he recorded fifth place tie with a six-over 294 (71-75-71-77). Carbary also placed seventh at the Firestone Invitational with a one-under 215 (71-74-70) and tied for ninth at the Golfweek Conference Challenge with a 212 (70-69-73).

To be eligible for Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar status an individual must be a junior or senior academically, compete in at least two full years at the collegiate level, participate in 70-percent of his team's competitive rounds or compete in the NCAA Championships, have a stroke-average under 76.0 and maintain a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.2. A recipient must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at his college or university.
