Senior Robyn Scott shot 148 to finish in fourth place

COLUMBUS, Ind. (EMUEagles.com) – Good things happen to those that wait. After day one was a wash with poor weather conditions, the Eastern Michigan University women's golf team finally got to hit the course at Otter Creek Golf Club, finishing as the runner-up at the Indiana Invitational.

Originally a 54-hole event, the tournament was scaled back to 36 holes with most of the play coming on Tuesday. Major delays due to thunderstorms in the area allowed players to get through less than nine holes on Monday.

EMU posted rounds of 306 and 309 to finish with a score of 615. Louisville took the team title with a score of 593, followed by EMU, Illinois (619) and the host Hoosiers (622).

Senior Robyn Scott (Auckland, New Zealand-Westlake Girls-Texas Tech Univ.) continued her solid play with a fourth place showing with a four-over par 148 (69-79). The finish was Scott's fourth career top-five finish in 21 all-time events.

Alyssa Kwon (Richmond Hills, Ontario-Richmond Hills) and senior Darby Peters (Lake Orion, Mich.-Lake Orion) each notched top 15 finishes, with Kwon placing eighth with a 153 (78-75) and Peters in 10th with a 155 (79-76). The showing was Kwon's first career top-10 finish.

Sarah Johnson (Wixom, Mich. -Walled Lake Central) and Usanee Laopattananont (Bangplee, Thailand-Thai Christian School) rounded out the lineup for the Green and White with a 160 (80-80) and a 169 (90-79), respectively.

Playing as individuals, Meredith Fairbairn (Orangeville, Ontario-Westside Secondary School) managed a 164 (84-80) for a 59th place tie and Corey Crossan (London, Ontario-Mother Teresa Catholic Secondary School) fired a 165 (89-76) for a 64th place tie.

Next up for the Eagles is the 2011 Mid-American Conference Championship, April 22-24, at Longaberger Golf Course in Nashport, Ohio. The University of Akron will be the host for the conference championship and live scoring can be found at www.golfstat.com.
