Heavy rain in the Athens, Ohio area forced the cancelation of today's 1 p.m. contest between the Eagles and Bobcats
ATHENS, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) — Heavy rain continued to pour through the Athens, Ohio area overnight, causing the Eastern Michigan University softball team's contest with Ohio University to be cancelled due to unplayable field conditions.
The Eagles (22-12) were looking to avenge their rain-shortened, 3-1 loss to the Bobcats (17-19) yesterday afternoon. The Green and White held a 5-3 lead in the sixth, but heavy rain forced officials to call the game. As a result, the score was reverted to the last complete inning. Unfortunately for the Eagles, it would be a 3-1 Ohio lead that was set as the final score.
EMU will return to action on Tuesday, April 26, when they head to Cleveland State University to take on the Vikings in a mid-week doubleheader. First pitch is slated for a 3 p.m. start.
