THE SERIES: Eastern Michigan will play four games this weekend with a doubleheader against Austin Peay State University set for Friday in which the teams are tied 3-3 in the all-time series. Saturday and Sunday, the Eagles will do battle with Alabama A&M in their first-ever meetings in program history.

THE COACHES: EMU Head Coach Jay Alexander enters this weekend series with a 218-218 (.500) career record in nine seasons, including a 57-70 mark in three seasons at Eastern Michigan.
APSU Head Coach Gary McClure is in his 22nd year at the helm having led APSU to three Ohio Valley Conference titles, the last in 2007, and having earned four OVC Coach of the Year honors in his tenure.
AAMU Head Coach Ed McCann joined the program in 1999 and has served as the head man for all but two years of the time. He led the team to a 28-26 record and a 17-9 conference mark in 2010, good for a third seed in the Summit League Conference tournament.

EAGLE RECAP: The Eagles snapped a three-game skid and put together a four-game winning streak with wins against Tennessee Tech and Prebyterian College last week.
After dropping game one of its three-game series against TTU, EMU won the final two games to take the series. The Eagles won game two, 5-1, behind the right arm of sophomore Steve Weber. They then outlasted the Golden Eagles, 9-8, in 11 innings to close out the series.
The Eagles then took on Prebyterian College in a two-game set and won both games by out-scoring the Blue Hose, 19-10, in the series. EMU won the first game, 13-6, with seven players recording multi-hit games led by senior Zack Leonard's three-hit day. They would take game two the following day, 6-4, after Jordan Glover's impressive pitching performance which saw him go 7.1 innings and allow just two earned runs on eight hits.

ON THE HORIZON: EMU will wrap up its 16-game road trip to start the season with a three-game series in Lawrence, Kan. to take on the Jayhawks of Kansas University, March 11-13. The highly anticpated home opener is slated for March 18-20, as the Eagles will host the inaugural Oestrike Classic, a three-day tournament featuring Oakland University and Alma College. The Eagles kick off the round-robin tournament with Alma March 18, at 2 p.m.

SCOUTING THE GOVERNORS: APSU comes in with a 4-2 overall record and having dropped its last two games to the University of Mississippi. The Governors began the season with three straight wins against Valparaiso and then defeated Illinois State before facing Mississippi.
Leading the team offensively is Jordan Hankins, who is batting .696 (16-for-23) through the first six games. Hankins has two doubles and a homerun while driving in 10 this season.
On the mound, APSU has compiled a 4.37 ERA as a team with 54 strikeouts against 39 walks. Jack Snodgrass has made two starts and has a 1.69 ERA. Zach Toney and Ryne Harper have made one start apiece and each sport a sub-4.00 ERA.

A LOOK AT THE BULLDOGS: Alabama A&M of the Southwest Athletic Conference comes in 1-7 on the season. The Bulldogs snapped a six-game skid to open the year with a 5-2 victory over Florida A&M, Feb. 26. Since then, they have dropped two more contests to Florida A&M, to close out their three-game series, and Selma University, in a mid-week game March 2.
Offensively, two batters are hitting above the .300 mark so far this season with Kency Duarte leading the team with a .391 (9-for-23) average through eight games. On the mound, James Brown is 0-0 with a 3.86 ERA in 9.1 innings pitched this season.

HIT PARADE: The Eagles hit .329 (24-for-73) in their series sweep against the Blue Hose with nine doubles and a homerun. The 16 hits recorded in game one was a season-best and the most since May 9, 2010 when the Eagles sprayed 18 hits in a 13-11 win over Northern Illinois.

A STOLEN ART: It took eight games, but the Eagles finally stole their first base of the season with three swipes in two games against Presbyterian College. Brent Ohrman, Zack Leonard and Daniel Russell each tallied their first swipe of the season.

FLASHING THE GLOVER: Sophomore right-hander Jordan Glover made his first start of the season for the Eagles, March 2, and turned his an impressive outing by going 7.1 innings and allowing just two runs on eight hits in the 6-4 victory. Glover sports a 1-0 record with a 2.35 ERA in three appearances this season.
