HOT SPRINGS, Ark. (EMUEagles.com) – Eastern Michigan University sophomore Sarah Johnson (Wixom, Mich. -Walled Lake Central) continued her strong play with her third consecutive top 15 showing, turning in an 11th-place finish at the University of Arkansas-Little Rock Golf Classic here at the Diamante Country Club, March 28-29. Competing against some of the region's best golfers, the Wixom, Mich. native carded a 76 in the final round to finish with a 225 (70-79-76), the second lowest 54-hole total of her short career.
As a team, the Eagles finished in fourth place with a team score of 910 (306-302-302) as Oral Roberts took home the invitational hardware with a 903 (305-304-294). Missouri State finished two strokes back with a 905 and Arkansas State took third with a 907. Florida International's Laura Stempfle captured medalist honors with a three-over 219 (74-72-73). There were 19 teams in the field.
Senior Robyn Scott (Auckland, New Zealand-Westlake Girls-Texas Tech Univ.) gave the Eagles another player among the top 30, after carding a 78 to finish tied for 30th with a 231 (77-76-78). Senior Darby Peters (Lake Orion, Mich.-Lake Orion) followed with a 232 (86-75-71) while Alyssa Kwon (Richmond Hills, Ontario-Richmond Hills) turned in a 233 (83-73-77) for 40th. Freshman Usanee Laopattananont (Bangplee, Thailand-Thai Christian School) rounded out the lineup with a 234 (76-78-80) for 45th place.
Eastern Michigan returns home to Ypsilanti before making the trek to Columbus, Ind., April 4-5, for the Indiana Invitational.
