CLINTON, S.C. (EMUEagles.com)
– The Eastern Michigan University baseball team made it four wins in a row by sweeping the two-game set against Presbyterian College with a 6-4 victory at the PC Baseball Complex today, March 2.

EMU starter Jordan Glover (Toronto, Ont.-Ontario Schools) picked up his first win of the 2011 campaign in just his first start of the season, allowing just two earned runs over 7.1 innings of work.

The Eagles climb over the .500-mark for the first time this season as they move to 5-4 with the win. Meanwhile, Presbyterian falls to 4-5 with the loss.

Behind Glover's mastery on the mound, junior Kyle Peterson (Chandler, Ariz.-Hamilton-Chandler-Gilbert CC) got the offense going with his first homerun as an Eagle, a two-run shot to tie the game in the second inning. He finished the day 2-for-4 with a run scored and three RBI to lead the Green and White.

Glover got off to a slow start as the Blue Hose pushed to runs across in the bottom of the first. After a leadoff walk to Andrew Williams, Nathan Chong doubled down the left field line to bring him home. A bad throw advanced him to third base and an ensuing groundout by Gabe Grammer made it 2-0 after one.

Peterson did his job to get both runs back, taking the first pitch he saw over the wall in left to tie the game as Zack Leonard (Canton, Mich.-McKinley), who singled to lead off the frame, also scored.

Tony Micklon gave the hosts the lead back with a solo homer to left in the bottom of the second, making it 3-2, Blue Hose.

After a scoreless third, the Eagles responded with a pair in the fourth. Leonard reached on a throwing error by the shortstop before Lee Longo (Mayfield, Ohio-Mayfield) connected on a double to drive him home. Peterson then reached on another Blue Hose miscue which allowed Ken Battiston (West Milton, Ohio-Milton Union) bring home Longo from third with an RBI groundout, giving the Eagles a 4-3 lead.

Meanwhile, Glover scattered just two singles between innings three thru seven and faced the minimum during that span. Each inning he allowed a single, he got a subsequent double play to prevent any threat of a scoring chance from PC.

In the Eagles' sixth, Peterson delivered another blow to the home team with a run-scoring double to make it 5-3. One inning later, Brent Ohrman (Adrian, Mich.-Adrian) added one more insurance run for EMU as he lifted a sacrifice fly to center to score Battiston, who doubled to center to lead off the inning.

Robert Wendzicki (Brook Park, Ohio-Midpark) tallied his second straight multi-hit game for the Eagles with a 2-for-4 effort at the plate, adding a run scored as well.

Kristian Calibuso (Brandon, Fla.-Armwood-Florida State College at Jacksonville) relieved Glover in the eighth to get the second out of the inning while Joe Battistelli (Allen Park, Mich.-Allen Park) closed out the final 1.1 innings to earn his first save of the season.

EMU will enjoy a day off before heading back to Tennessee for a trio of games March 4-6. The Eagles will take on Austin Peay, March 4, at 3 p.m. before doing battle with Alabama A&M the final two days.
