LITCHFIELD PARK, Ariz. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University women's golf team is taking advantage of perfect 85-degree scoring conditions in Arizona where it is in fifth place after two round of the Lumberjack Shootout at Wigwam, hosted by Northern Arizona University, March 14-16.
The Eagles tallied a score of 296 on Tuesday to sit alone in fifth place with a two-day total of 594 (298-296). The host Lumberjacks lead with a 579 (287-292), followed by Indiana in second at 585 (296-289). The Hoosiers are followed by Tarleton State (588) and Florida International (593) to round out the top four.
Sarah Johnson (Wixom, Mich.-Walled Lake Central) is tied for 12th after a second round 74 for a 36-hole cumulative score of 147 (74-73). Seniors Darby Peters (Lake Orion, Mich.-Lake Orion) and Robyn Scott (Auckland, New Zealand -Westlake Girls-Texas Tech Univ.) are tied for 18th place with a 148.
Redshirt freshman Alyssa Kwon (Richmond Hills, Ontario-Richmond Hills) recorded a 76 to a 151 (75-76) to sit in 30th. Rounding out the lineup, freshman Usanee Laopattananont (Bangplee, Thailand-Thai Christian School) is tied for 42nd place with a 155 (78-77).
Competing as an individual, sophomore Meredith Fairbairn (Orangeville, Ontario-Westside Secondary School) shot 156 (79-77) for a tie for 48th place.
Round three of the Lumberjack Shootout at Wigwam will begin at 8 a.m. Wednesday, March, 16.
