LITCHFIELD PARK, Ariz. (EMUEagles.com) – Sarah Johnson (Wixom, Mich.-Walled Lake Central) and Darby Peters (Lake Orion, Mich.-Lake Orion) each fired an opening round 74 to lead the Eastern Michigan University women's golf team Monday, March 14, at the Lumberjack Shootout at Wigwam. The tandem sit in a 13th place tie, while the Eagles are tied for fourth as a team with a 298 on the par-72 Wigwam Golf Course course.

Senior Robyn Scott (Auckland, New Zealand -Westlake Girls-Texas Tech Univ.) and redshirt freshman Alyssa Kwon (Richmond Hills, Ontario-Richmond Hills) both recorded rounds of 75 to sit in a tie for 19th place. Rounding out the lineup, freshman Usanee Laopattananont (Bangplee, Thailand-Thai Christian School) is tied for 43th place with a 78.

Competing as an individual, sophomore Meredith Fairbairn (Orangeville, Ontario-Westside Secondary School) shot a 79 for a tie for 51st place.

Northern Arizona University shot a 287 in the first round and holds a six shot lead over Tarleton State University with a 293. Indiana is third with a 296 followed by EMU (298) and Grand Canyon (298). Grand Canyon's Brittany Penny holds down the top on the leader board with a three-under par 69.

Round two of the Lumberjack Shootout at Wigwamwill begin at 8 a.m. Tuesday, March, 15.
