— The Eastern Michigan University men's swimming and diving team dropped a non-conference dual-meet this evening to the No. 11 ranked Ohio State Buckeyes, 167-89, at McCorkle Aquatic Center in Columbus, Ohio.

The loss brings the Eagles record to an even 4-4 mark, while the Buckeyes improve to 10-1.

Troy Esentan (North Little Rock, Ark.-Central) led the Eagles with his three second place performances on the day, finishing runner-up in the 100 breaststroke, 200 breaststroke, and 400 IM. He led the way for the Eagles in the 200 breast in 2:06.76, followed by Michael Swain (Ann Arbor, Mich.-Huron) and Tyler Capen (Lisle, Ill.-Marmion Academy), who finished third and fourth respectively.

This week's MAC Swimmer of the Week, Matt Zavislak (Commerce Twp., Mich.-Walled Lake Northern), finished second in the 500 freestyle event in 4:42.88, while Justin Griggs (Cheltenham, Australia-Australian Catholic University) finished in third at 47.94. Zavislak would also lead EMU in the 50 freestyle with his 21.34, fourth place efforts. Griggs placed fourth in the 100 free just behind teammate August Everson's (Sandusky, Ohio-Sandusky) 47.85, third place performance.

In the 100 butterfly, Michael Kinross (Crystal Lake, Ill.-Crystal Lake South) completed the distance in 52.64 seconds for a second-place outing, while Tom Coates (Melbourne, Austrailia-St. Kevin's College) took third after touching the wall in 52.70.

Jacob Hanson (Bloomington, Ill.-Normal Community) would be the Eagles top finisher in both the 200 butterfly and 200 backstroke. Hanson completed the 200 fly in fourth place after posting a time of 1:54.98 in the event. He would then finish second in the 200 backstroke in 1:51.22.

The Eagles would close out the meet with a first place finish in the 200 freestyle relay as the team of Griggs, Hanson, Everson, and Zavislak collaborated for a 1:24.92 performance.

EMU will return to action on Thursday, March 3 when they head to Carbondale, Ill. for the 2011 Mid-American Conference Swimming and Diving Championships. The three-day event will be hosted by Southern Illinois University.
