EMU TO HOST JACKSONVILLE STATE IN SEARS BRACKETBUSTER: The Eastern Michigan University men's basketball team will host Jacksonville State University in the ninth-annual BracketBuster which is sponsored by retailer Sears. The Eagles have played in the BracketBusters eight times and are 4-4 in those contests. Game time for the EMU-Jacksonville State game is 4:30 p.m. as part of a doubleheader as the EMU women will host Northern Illinois at 2 p.m. in the Convocation Center. It is also the E-Club Athletic Hall of Fame that day. Information on the Hall of Fame ceremony, including the inductees, is on page three.

EMU vs. JACKSONVILLE STATE: EMU and Jacksonville State will be meeting for the first time ever in men's basketball. The Eagles enter the game with a 7-18 record after a 66-60 setback at Central Michigan Wednesday, Feb. 16.
Jacksonville State University is 5-23 overall and 3-14 in Ohio Valley Conference play. The head coach of Jacksonville, which is located in Jacksonville, Ala., is James Green, now in his third year and his 14th overall. 

E-CLUB ATHLETIC HALL OF FAME SATURDAY: It will be a big day for athletic events on the Eastern Michigan University campus Saturday, Feb. 19.
The women's basketball team will host Northern Illinois at 2 p.m. in the Convocation Center while the men's basketball team will host non-conference opponent Jacksonville State University in a 4:30 p.m. Sears BracketBuster game.
Prior to those games the 35th EMU Athletic Hall of Fame ceremony will be held in the EMU Student Center beginning at 10 a.m. The seven new Hall of Fame Inductees will also be honored between the women's and men's basketball games.
The EMU E-Club, a group of former EMU varsity athletic letterwinners, will induct seven new members into the Athletic Hall of Fame Saturday.
The Class of 2010 includes: Clement Chukwu (track), Dawn (Godfrey) Heck (softball), Laurie Hubbard (women's swimming), JoAnn (LeFevre) McBroom (women's basketball), Hildred Lewis (football and men's track), John Martin (baseball), and Barry Stokes (football).
In addition to the Hall of Fame inductees, the E-Club will present Ed Mizinski, a past E-Club president and former EMU football player, with the Ron Oestrike Distinguished Service Award. The award, named after former EMU baseball-coaching legend Ron Oestrike, was first presented at the 2008 Hall of Fame ceremony to Oestrike. The award is voted on by the E-Club Executive Board and is presented to individuals that have been instrumental in assisting the E-Club.
Tickets for the Hall of Fame ceremony and luncheon, which also includes tickets for the men's and women's basketball doubleheaders at the Convocation Center, are $45 each and can be purchased by calling Amanda Decker at the EMU Foundation, 734.481.2335.
Clement Chukwu was a six-time NCAA All-American trackman for EMU and was a member of the Nigerian 4x400-meter relay team that was awarded the Gold Medal in the 1996 Olympic Games.
Dawn (Godfrey) Heck was an All-Mid-American Conference softball player who graduated in 1996 and still holds three EMU varsity records, for at bats (741), runs scored (122) and stolen bases (107).
Laurie Hubbard was a standout swimmer for EMU who won three events at the inaugural Mid-American Conference Women's Championship in 1981 and went on to qualify for the NCAA national championship meet.
Hildred Lewis was a two-sport star for EMU from 1962-66. He earned eight letters, in both football and track, and was the varsity record holder in the 880-yard run. He was invited to try out for the NFL's San Francisco 49ers.
John Martin graduated in 1978 after a turning in an outstanding baseball career for EMU. He went on to play for the St. Louis Cardinal team that won the 1982 World Series.
JoAnne (LeFevre) McBroom was a first-team All-MAC selection for the EMU women's basketball team in 1986-87 and finished her career as the fifth-leading scorer in EMU women's basketball history.
Barry Stokes earned four football letters at EMU and went on to play professional football with seven NFL teams before injuries forced his retirement.
In addition to the Hall of Fame inductions, there will also be a special presentation made to former E-Club president and former EMU football letterman Ed Mizinski.
Mizinski will receive the second Ron E. Oestrike Distiniguished Service Award from the E-Club. The award is named after long-time veteran Head Baseball Coach Ron Oestrike who was instrumental in re-building the E-Club over the past 25 years.

BRACKETBUSTER TIME: Saturday's, Feb. 19, EMU-Jacksonville State University BracketBuster by Sears game will be the Eagles' eighth appearance in the in-season matchups pitting potential NCAA Tournament hopefuls against each other. As part of the agreement, all 11 of the BracketBusters home teams in televised games, as well as the remaining 46 home squads, will play a “return” game at the home facility of their opponent in November or December of the 2011-12 season.
