Eagles will compete at the Ottawa Park course for the third time this season
YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) — The Eastern Michigan University women's cross country team will head the 2011 NCAA Great Lakes Regional at Ottawa Park in Toledo, Ohio this Saturday, Nov. 12.
EMU will be coming off of their fifth place finish at the 2011 Mid-American Conference on Oct. 29 where they improved its team point total by 67 points from its 2010 finish and also placed three runners in the top-20 as well as earning two All-MAC nods.
The Eagles, who are currently ranked 11th in the Great Lakes Region in the latest U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) poll, will be facing several nationally ranked programs at this weekend's regional. No. 12 Michigan State, No. 24 Notre Dame and No. 28 Wisconsin are slated to compete this Saturday, as well as Mid-American Conference opponent Toledo also received votes on the national poll.
The 6,000-meter women's race will take place on the Ottawa Park course in Toledo, Ohio. The Eagles have already had the opportunity to compete on the same course earlier this season at both the Sept. 23 Intercollegiate Bubble Buster and the Sept. 2 Toledo Open. Their experience and familiarity with the Ottawa Park course as well as their positive strides made throughout the season will be beneficial in the Green and White's efforts to post impressive finishes at the regional championship this weekend.
