YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) — The Eastern Michigan University women's cross country team will return to action after taking a week off from competition when they head to Peoria, Ill. for the Eighth Annual Bradley Classic this Friday, Oct. 14.
The 6,000-meter race will feature 21 NCAA Division I programs with a total of 258 runners from 24 institutions, representing the second -largest field the Eagles have seen this season.
EMU sat idle for a week after competing in the Greater Louisville Classic on Oct. 1. The Eagles' 347 points put them in 12th place out of 30 teams in the event which included several top-notch programs in the country.
Victoria Voronko's (Stavropol, Russia-School #42) 17:23.30, 13th place effort was not only the Eagles' lone top-20 finish, but was also enough to earn the freshman her first Mid-American Conference Runner of the Week award on Oct. 5.
This Friday's race will be held at the Newman Golf Course, which has held four NCAA Regional events as well as five State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Championships. Start time is slated for 4:20 p.m.
