ANN ARBOR, Mich. (EMUEagles.com)- The Eastern Michigan University gymnastics team took time out of their busy schedules to volunteer at The Big House Big Heart event, Sunday, Oct. 9. The race started and concluded at the University of Michigan Stadium. It included both 5k and 10k events as well as a one mile walk.
The event had close to 15,000 participants and over 700 volunteers with 11 coming from the EMU gymnastics team. The Eagles assisted participants in the wheelchair walk which started at the corner of Kipke and Green streets in Ann Arbor and finished on the 50-yard line at Michigan Stadium.
The event benefited a variety of non-profit organizations working with Champions for Charity who donated a portion to ALS research at The University of Michigan Program for Neurology Research & Discovery, the UM Cardiovascular Center and to C. S. Mott Children's Hospital and Women's Hospital.
