DAVIDSON, N.C. (EMUEagles.com) -- Sophomore Rachel Iaquaniello (Plymouth, Mich.-Dearborn Divine Child) posted seven kills and seven digs, but it was not enough as the Eastern Michigan University volleyball team was swept by Boise State University Saturday morning, Sept. 18. The Broncos used a solid offensive performance to pick up the 25-22, 25-19 and 25-19 victories in the second match of Nfinity Wildcat Classic at Belk Arena.
With the lost he Eagles drop to 11-2 overall, meanwhile the Broncos improve to 10-3 on the year.
Eastern Michigan struggled offensively, recording just 29 kills and a .172 hitting percentage. On the flipside, Boise State racked up 50 kills and a .353 attack percentage.
Iaquaniello turned in a team-best seven kills, followed by six markers from senior Jenn Swartz (Canton, Mich.-Westland John Glenn) and sophomore Kristen Baker (Mentor, Ohio-Mentor). Junior setter Ashley Mason (Eastlake, Ohio-Lake Catholic) finished with 20 assists and five kills, while junior Haley Stein (Carleton, Mich.-Monroe St. Mary's Catholic Central) notched 13 digs.
Alisha Young led the way for BSU with 13 kills and five blocks, plus Liz Harden and Sadie Maughan blasted home 12 kills apiece. Setter Breann Nesselhuf finished with 45 assists and six digs, while libero Amanda Remy paced the defense with 13 digs.
The Eagles will look to get back on the winning track later this afternoon against High Point University. First serve is schedule for 4:30 p.m.
