HOME OPENER: After 20 straight games on the road, the Eagles will finally play their first home contest when they host Detroit-Mercy at Varsity Field Wednesday, March 31, at 3 p.m. EMU is 14-6 in home openers since 1990 with four wins in its last five home openers overall. The Eagles defeated Miami by a score of 4-1 to open the home slate March 27, 2009. Wednesday's doubleheader will be broadcast live on Eagle All-Access.

ABOUT THE SPARTANS: Michigan State opened up Big Ten Conference play over the weekend, falling to Iowa in both games of a home doubleheader, 3-1 and 7-6. The Spartans held a 6-5 lead going into the sixth inning of game two before giving up a two-spot to the Hawkeyes which proved to be the difference. MSU is currently 13-17 on the season with a 1-2 record at home. Their lone win at Old College Field was a 5-3 victory over Western Michigan. Three Spartans are hitting over .300 with Lindsey Hansen leading the way with a .367-mark including a team-high seven home runs and 17 RBI.

SCOUTING THE TITANS: The University of Detroit-Mercy has dropped its last six games and five by way of a shutout. The Titans opened Horizon League play with a three-game series on Saturday against Wright State in which they dropped each by a combined score of 30-0. UDM is currently 2-11 on the year with wins against U-M Dearborn and Pennsylvania. Erica Houthoofd leads the team with a .294 batting average while Jessica Liebner is the RBI-leader with six.

LAST TIME OUT: The Eagles traveled to South Bend, Ind. to take on the University of Notre Dame Wednesday, March 23, in a doubleheader that saw the Fighting Irish prevail with victories in both ends by scores of, 9-0 and 9-3, respectively. EMU managed just four hits in game one and five in game two, three of which came in the seventh inning. Stacie Skodinski went 3-for-5 on the day in her first game back in her home town.

EMU EAGLES SOFTBALL IS ON THE AIR: Eastern Michigan's home opener against the University of Detroit-Mercy will be broadcast live on Eagle All-Access. Chad Bush will assume play-by-play duties while Dan Wyar of the EMU Athletic Media Relations Office will provide color commentary. CARO GOES DISTANCE: Junior right-hander Jaclyn Caro went a season-high six innings in game two against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish Tuesday, March 23. It was her fourth start of the season and longest outing of the year as she recovers from an offseason injury that forced her to miss the fall.

SKIDDY'S HOMECOMING: Stacie Skodinski, a South Bend, Ind. native, made her return trip home in the Eagles' doubleheader at Notre Dame last Tuesday, March 23. The junior went a combined 3-for-5 at the plate including a 2-for-3 effort in game two to raise her batting average to a team-high .408 clip.

BUSY WEEK ON TAP: Eastern Michigan has scheduled seven games in six days beginning with a single game mid-week trip to East Lansing to take on the Michigan State Spartans Tuesday, March 30. The Eagles will then open up at home against Detroit Wednesday, March 31, before heading to Toledo and Bowling Green for the start of MAC play over the weekend.

EAGLES FLY SOUTH FOR MAC OPENER: The Eagles will open Mid-American Conference play on the road for just the third time in the last eight years when they travel to Toledo to take on the Rockets Friday, April 2, at 1 p.m. From there, the Green and White will continue south until they reach Bowling Green.
