Eagles' Third Place Relay Finish Highlights First Day At MAC

OXFORD, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University women's swimming and diving team dove into the 2010 Mid-American Conference Championships with a third place finish in the 800-yard freestyle relay at Nixon Aquatic Center at Miami University Wednesday evening, Feb. 26.
The relay team of Samantha Partridge, Briana Emig, Leeza Moser and Sarah Kowalski turned in a season-best time of 7:19.09 in the 800-yard free relay to place third behind Ohio University and Toledo, which won with a time of 7:14.53.
The Eagles failed to score in the only other event on day one, the 200-yard medley relay, because of a disqualification. After two events at the MAC Championships, they sit in sixth place overall with 32 points. Toledo ranks first with 80 points after winning both relays followed by Ohio, host Miami, Akron and Buffalo.
Thursday's action will include prelims in the 500 free, 200 IM and 50 free in the first session. The second session will feature the finals in those three events as well as the one meter diving finals and 200 free relay finals. Events will begin at 11 a.m.
