Maggie Manville
Deja Vu in Detroit; Eagles, Titans Play to Scoreless Draw

If the result looked familiar to when both sides played in 2008, it was. For the second year in a row, EMU and UDM played to a scoreless tie.
Box Score
DETROIT, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan women's soccer team fired off an astounding 27 shots, but couldn't find the back of the net on any of them. Fortunately for EMU, its keeper, Maggie Manville, kept the Titans out of net as well, earning the shutout in a repeat of last year's, 0-0, double overtime outcome at Titan Field.
In a match where weather played a major role, moving the site of competition from the friendly confines of Scicluna Field to the home of their opponent, the University of Detroit, the Eagles had to be satisfied to at least return home with a draw. Steady rain over the weekend and especially on Tuesday, wreaked havoc on field conditions and forced EMU to lose an originally scheduled home game in 2009.
In all fairness, however, they had several chances to get one past Detroit netminder, Joanna Hinde. Of the Eagles' 27 shots, 10 of them landed on goal. In both overtime sessions combined, EMU put up 11 shots, four of which challenged Hinde to make a save and she did so successfully.
Stephanie Janssens and Deana Kinter combined for 13 shots, four on goal and three of those coming off the foot of Janssens. Alexis Heard was the only other Eagle to tally multiple shots on goal on the day, with two.
Manville avenged a goal allowed in her last outing against Indiana State to come up big with 110 minutes of shutout goal keeping in this one. Of Detroit's 14 shots on the afternoon, eight were put on goal and saved by Manville. Nina Carter and Rebecca Pidgeon combined for six shots, four of which challenged Manville.
Manville and Monique Budani have combined for two shutouts already this season. The two accounted for five apiece and 10 as a tandem one season ago. They should each get an opportunity to add to their season total this weekend when Eastern Michigan travels to Richmond, Va. to take on Richmond and Loyola (MD) this Friday and Sunday, respectively.
