Volleyball Swept by Kent State

KENT, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) – Eastern Michigan University freshman Rachel Iaquaniello (Plymouth, Mich.-Dearborn Divine Child) notched a team-best nine kills and a .389 hitting percentage (9-2-18), however it was not enough as the Eagles dropped a 3-0 decision (24-26, 10-25, 23-25) to Kent State University Saturday afternoon here at the M.A.C. Center.
With the loss the Eagles fall to 1-15 on the season and 0-2 in Mid-American Conference play. Meanwhile, the Golden Flashes even their record at 8-8 overall and 1-1 in league action.
Behind Iaquaniello, senior Victoria Randolph (Cincinnati, Ohio-Mount Notre Dame) continued to make an impact in just her second match of the season due to injury by recording seven kills and four digs. Sophomore Ashley Mason (Eastlake, Ohio- Lake Catholic) distributed 24 set assists to go along with a team-best 11 defensive digs.
Kent State sophomore Liva Brivule tallied 19 kills and was two digs short of a double-double and Arjola Prenga also chipped in 11 put-a-ways for the Flashes.
The Green and White return to Ypsilanti for a pair of MAC contests Friday, Oct. 2, versus the University of Toledo and Saturday, Oct. 3, against Ball State University. First serve for both matches is set for 7 p.m. at the Convocation Center. Fans attending Saturday's football game versus Temple University at 1 p.m. also receive free admission to the volleyball match by presenting their ticket stub.
