» 2009 SEASON: The Eastern Michigan University women's tennis team is in its 32nd season. The first season of women's varsity intercollegiate tennis at EMU was 1976-77 under the direction of Lucy Parker. The Eagles went 8-7 that season and finished fifth at the Michigan AIAW Championship.
» WHAT'S ON TAP: The Eastern Michigan University women's tennis team will travel to Bowling Green, Ohio for the 2009 Mid-American Conference Tournament. The Eagles, who earned the seventh seed in the tournament after defeating Northern Illinois, 5-2, April 18, will play the University at Buffalo Friday, April 24. First serve is slated for 2 p.m. at Keefe Tennis Courts (Perrysburg Tennis Center in inclement weather).
» EAGLE REWIND: The Eagles concluded the 2008-09 regular season with an overall record of 5-15 and 2-6 in MAC play. Despite their record, the Eagles are winners of twostraight MAC matches heading into the tournament. Xu Chang holds the best conference record, with a 5-3 mark, followed by Miriam Westerink's 3-5 record. The duo of Chang and Karina Ahuja hold the best conference-doubles record on the team with a 4-4 mark.
» EAGLES AND THE TOURNAMENT: The Eagles have won two Mid-American Conference Tournament titles, winning in 1998 and 2001. In 1998, the Eagles swept through the first round, easily defeating Bowling Green 5-1, before edging Miami 5-4. In the title match, the Eagles recorded the 5-3 win over Western Michigan to take the tournament title. In 2001, the Eagles beat Ball State 4-1 in the first round before recording a win over WMU in the second round 4-2. In the finals, the Eagles picked up a 4-3 win over Marshall to advance to the NCAA Tournament and win the conference title.
» EAGLES AND THE TOURNAMENT, PART 2: EMU is looking to break its current two-match losing skid in the MAC tournament, falling in the first round in 2007 and 2008. » FALCONS FINISH SEVENTH: The Eastern Michigan University women's tennis team finished the MAC season with a 2-6 mark to finish seventh. Miami University won the regular-season team title, recorded a perfect 8-0 MAC record.

» SINGLES SWITCH-A-ROO: Head coach Ryan Ray switched up the line up for the matches against Ball State, April 11, and Northern Illinois, April 18. He flipped the second and third singles, as Xu Chang moved into the second flight and Karina Ahuja slipped into the third slot. With the changes, the Eagles are now a perfect 2-0 and look to extend that streak into the conference tournament.
» SENIOR SAYS GOODBYE: Joanna Woo, the lone senior on the squad, played in her final home match for the Eagles, April 18, against Northern Illinois. The Winnipeg, Manitoba native picked up a doubles win at the first flight with partner Miriam Westerink. Heading into the MAC tournament, she has racked up a singles record of 21-33 in three seasons and doubles mark of 14-47. Her first season with the Eagles, she saw limited action due to injury.
» REMATCH WITH THE BULLS: The Eagles, who earned the seventh seed in the MAC Tournament, will meet the University at Buffalo for the first time in the conference tournament, Friday, April 24 at Keefe Tennis Courts. The Eagles will be looking to avenge a 7-0 loss to the Bulls earlier this season. The Eagles still hold the advantage in the all-time series between the two teams, 8-3 (54-23 edge in set wins).
» EAGLES EXTEND STREAK: After a slow start to the season, the Eagles picked up its final two regular-season matches, defeating Ball State, 4-3, April 11, and Northern Illinois, 5-2, April 18.
