Eagles fall to Buffalo in quaterfinals
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio-The Eastern Michigan University women's tennis team fell short in the quarterfinals of the 2009 Mid-American Conference Tournament, falling 4-0 to the University at Buffalo Friday afternoon, April 24, at the Perrysburg Tennis Center. The match was moved indoors after high winds in the Bowling Green. With the loss, the Eagles bow out of the tournament and end their season with an overall record of 5-16 and 2-6 in conference action.
The Eagles fell behind quick in doubles, dropping two sets to the Bulls by scores of 8-1, forcing the third doubles match to be abandoned as required by tournament rules. In singles, the Bulls continued to overpower the young Eagles, taking three out of six matches, and advancing to the semifinals April 25.
This was the final match for senior Joanna Woo (Winnipeg, Manitoba), as she will be graduating soon with a degree in psychology. As for the rest of the Eagles, the future is bright, as all six underclassmen will return for next fall.
