Eagles Return to Conference Action; Host Zips for Three-Game Set

YPSILANTI, Mich. - The Eastern Michigan University baseball team (4-22, 0-6 MAC) returns to the friendly confines of Oestrike Stadium this weekend for a three-game Mid-American Conference series with the University of Akron Zips (5-21, 2-4 MAC), April 3-5. Game one is scheduled for Friday, April 3, at 6:05 p.m. at Oestrike Stadium, while games two and three are slated for 3:05 p.m. and 1:05 p.m., respectively.
Sophomore Corey Chaffins (New London, Ohio-New London) will get the start for EMU in game one, while right-handed pitcher Tom Farmer will get the nod for the Zips.
The Eagles registered a 12-6 win over the Zips in their last meeting, April 6, 2008, as the Green and White pounded out 18 hits en route to the victory. Jim Gulliver (Allen, Park, Mich.-Allen Park) went 3-for-5 with a home run, two RBI and three runs scored in the win, while Tim Combs (Dayton, Ohio-Wayne) picked up his first career win for EMU. The Eagles finished the season 2-1 against the Zips, improving their all-time record to 23-13.
