Stephany Fleet Selected MAC Women's Golfer of the Week

Senior earns eighth weekly conference accolade of her career
CLEVELAND, Ohio – Eastern Michigan University senior golfer Stephany Fleet (Dewitt, Mich-Dewitt) was named Mid-American Conference Golfer of the Week for the period ending April 1, 2009. This marks the eighth time in her career and the third time this academic year she has collected the weekly award.
Fleet continued her strong play with her sixth consecutive top five showing, turning in a second place finish at the University of Arkansas-Little Rock Golf Classic at the Diamante Country Club, March 30-31. Competing against some of the region's best golfers, the Dewitt, Mich. native carded a 76 in the final round to finish with a 222 (75-71-76), the 11th lowest 54-hole total in school history.
As a team, the Eagles finished in fifth place with a team score of 946 (318-309-319), as host Arkansas Little took home the invitational hardware with a 927 (303-320-304). The Trojans needed a playoff to fend off Florida International University, who also posted a two-day total of 927. UMKC's Kelsey Kipp captured medalist honors with a five-over 221 (70-76-75).
Eastern Michigan returns home to Ypsilanti before making the trek to Richmond, Ky., April 11-12, for the EKU Spring Invitational. The Eagles have claimed the last two EKU Spring Tournament titles, including dominating the 2008 field with a 20-shot victory at the par-72, 5,817-yard course Arlington Golf Club.
