Baseball Falls, 10-0, at Louisiana Tech

RUSTON, La. – The Eastern Michigan University baseball team dropped game-three of a three-game set Sunday afternoon, March 8, at J.C. Love Field in Ruston, La., as the Eagles fell, 10-0, to the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs.
The loss drops EMU to 3-9 this season, while LaTech improves to 7-3 with the win.
For the first time since May 17 of last season, sophomore Zack Leonard (Canton, Ohio-McKinley) failed to reach base, as the Bulldog pitching staff held Leonard 0-for-3 day at the plate. Leonard has hit safely in 10 out of EMU's 12 games this season and has reached base safely in 11 out of 12.
Junior Aaron Crooks (Toledo, Ohio-Ottawa Hills) went 2-for-4 at the plate in the loss, while junior Andrew Marshall (Mason, Mich.-Mason) went 1-for-3 with a double.
Freshman Kendall Lewis (Huntsville, Ohio-Indian Lake) took the loss for the Eagles, while Dylan Moseley picked up the win for the Bulldogs.
The Bulldogs put three runs on the scoreboard in the first two innings, as an RBI singles by Alex Williams, Clay Alexander and Nick Grunenwald gave LaTech a 3-0 lead. The Bulldogs would take a commanding lead in the bottom of the seventh after an RBI double by Winn scored three to give LaTech a 10-0 advantage.
The Eagles head to Dayton, Ohio next weekend for four games. EMU will square off against the University of Dayton Flyers Friday, March 7, at 3 p.m., before a Saturday doubleheader against Wright State University, beginning at noon. The Eagles conclude their weekend Sunday, March 15, when they take on the Oakland Grizzlies at 10 a.m. in Dayton.
