The Flyers put the Eagles down early in the game, as a two-run double by Cole Tyrell and an RBI single by Aaron Dunsmore led to three UD runs, giving Dayton a 3-0 advantage. The Flyers tacked on one more run an inning later to go ahead, 4-0.
The Eagles limited Dayton's lead in the top of the fifth, as Rhoad belted a two-run triple to score freshmen Kyle Klein (Grand Rapids, Mich.-West Catholic) and Brent Ohrman (Adrian, Mich.-Adrian) to make it a 5-2 game. Rhoad later scored on a groundout by junior Jim Gulliver (Allen Park, Mich.-Allen Park) to make it a 5-3 game.
But EMU couldn't manage to stop the Dayton offense, as the Flyers tallied two more runs in the bottom of the sixth to go ahead, 7-3.

Sophomore Jordan Goldschmidt (Ft. Loramie, Ohio-Ft. Loramie) will start on the mound for EMU in game one, while sophomore Corey Chaffins (New London, Ohio-New London) will start game two.
