Eagles Set For Mid-Week Match-Up With Vikings

EMU begins the month of April with a mid-week game at Cleveland State.
YPSILANTI, Mich. – The Eastern Michigan University baseball team (4-21, 0-6 MAC) will head to Lorain, Ohio Wednesday, April 1, for a mid-week match-up with the Vikings of Cleveland State University (5-15, 0-3 Horizon). Originally scheduled for 4 p.m., first pitch is now set for 4:30 p.m. at the Pipe Yard.
The Eagles fell, 15-9, to the Vikings last season at Oestrike Stadium. Sophomore Matt Skirving (Midland, Mich.-H.H. Dow) belted two homers against the Vikings last season, going 4-for-4 with four RBI and two runs scored, while senior Aaron Powell (Clarkston, Mich.-Clarkston) went 3-for-5 with a homer, two RBI and three runs scored in the loss. CSU's Alex Kerins hit three home runs to lead the Vikings.
A LOOK AT CSU: Before taking on the Eagles, the Vikings are set for mid-week match-up with the Ohio University Bobcats Tuesday, March 31, in Athens, Ohio. CSU is coming off a weekend sweep over local rival Case Western Reserve University. The Vikings outscored the Spartans, 25-5, in two games over the weekend. After playing EMU, the Vikings host Valparaiso, April 3-4, at the Pipe Yard.
LOOKING AHEAD: After meeting the Vikings Wednesday, the Eagles prepare for a Mid-American Conference weekend series at home against the University of Akron, April 3-5, at Oestrike Stadium. Game one is scheduled for 6:05 p.m., while games two and three are scheduled for 3:05 p.m. and 1:05 p.m., respectively. EMU leads the all-time series against Akron, 23-13, including a 2-1 mark against the Zips last season.
