Baseball Claims 3-1 Win Over Michigan

A solid outing from Sikora and a homer by Skirving paved the way the win.

The Eagles snap a 12-game losing streak with the win and improve to 4-18, while U-M drops to 14-6 with the loss.
The victory marks the first win at U-M since April 18, 2007, when EMU registered a 10-2 victory over the Wolverines.
Skirving had a big game for the Eagles, going 2-for-2 with a homer and two RBI, while senior Kyle Rhoad (
Junior Kevin Sikora (Youngstown, Ohio-Boardman) had a stellar outing for the Eagles in his first start of the year, going six and two-thirds innings, giving up just one run on seven hits, while fanning four U-M batters and picking off a pair of runners to earn his first win of the season. Skirving broke up a scoreless game in the top of fourth, as he belted a two-run homer over the right field wall to score freshman Brent Ohrman (Adrian, Mich.-Adrian) and give EMU a 2-0 advantage.
Freshman Kyle Klein (Grand Rapids, Mich.-West Catholic) extended EMU's lead to three in the top of the sixth, as his one-out sacrifice bunt scored junior Andrew Marshall (Mason, Mich.-Mason) from third to give the Eagles a 3-0 lead.
The Wolverines pulled within two in the bottom of the seventh, as an RBI groundout by Kevin Cislo scored Tim Kalczynski to make it a 3-1 game, but the EMU pitching staff held the Wolverines at bay for remainder of the contest to help seal the victory.
